Description
A wonderful, rich and appealing wine made from 60-year-old vines in the up-and-coming Swartland region of the Western cape. Shiraz thrives in this region with its ancient mix of soils; granite, shale, and sandstone with vineyards also tempered by the effects of the nearby Atlantic Ocean.
Winemakers add about 30% of the grapes’ stems into the fermentation tank. This adds structure and complexity to the wine as well as helping to naturally control acidity levels.
Interestingly, the wine also undergoes the famous Ripasso treatment, where the wine is run over the skins again at the end to aid boost both the body and the alcohol level of the wine.
Full of ripe cherry fruit and cassis with a hint of spice from undergoing 3 months in French oak ahead of bottling, this joyous Shiraz really over-delivers!
