Description
Over fifty years ago, Jerry Lohr embarked on a career change and was one of the first to realise the potential of a brand-new wine growing region in the Central Coast. Having been raised on a South Dakota farm, he was blessed with a sense of agricultural instinct when it came to searching for the ideal location for his first vineyard. Combined with extensive research, his decade long search led him to Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco where its cool, windy climate and rocky soils are ideal for growing Chardonnay. ”Arroyo Seco” meaning dry river in Spanish, is a small appellation nestled between the flatlands and the higher reaches of the Santa Lucia mountains.
J Lohr continues to be family owned and operated with Jerry at the helm, working side by side with his children and vineyard sustainability is at the heart of everything they do.
This stunning wine was fermented in barrel for 6 months with weekly stirring to enhance texture in the finished product and bring out flavours of vanilla, cream, and a hint of oak on the long finish.
A fresh, youthful, and textured Chardonnay with flavours of white peach, flowers, citrus, baking spices, and hazelnut.
