Located in the Stags Leap district of Napa Valley and historic winner of the Cabernet Sauvignon competition at the 1976 Judgement of Paris where the winery achieved international recognition by winning 1st place in a blind tasting of 10 top French and California red wines, including prestigious first and second growths. The significance of the result was described as “a victory that put California on the winemaking map, and established Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars as a global superstar” by Decanter magazine. They then went on to achieve 2nd place in ‘The Judgment of Paris’ 30th Anniversary tasting with the same wines and vintages tasted at the original Judgment of Paris competition. This charming and delicious wine, reminiscent of a Saint-Julien Bordeaux from a favourable vintage, is crammed with black cherries and blueberries on the nose. Aromas of spice, vanilla and clove develop, which are reflected in the palate. The palate is refined and elegant with a balanced acidity, fine tannins and wonderful length.
