Description
Most of the estate’s vineyards are 60-100 years old, ungrafted, and are still planted on a single pole. The vineyards themselves are in the under-rated Thörnicher Ritsch and Klüsserather Bruderschaft sites, around 4ha, with them situated in the prime almost fully south-facing slopes overseeing the Mosel.
The profile of these vineyards is open on both sides, quite rare in these parts, which allows the cold air from the plateau to work it’s way through the vineyards helping to preserve the acidity well into the harvest.
These are wines that are massively enjoyable in their youth, but if you can give them time, they evolve into some of the best wines you’ll ever try.
All wines are made with organic principles in mind (not certified) with the use of natural yeasts, stainless steel and some bottle ageing to produce these electrifyingly vivid examples of Rieslings.
The mouthfeel, balance here is phenomenal giving away to lime, peach, persevered lemon, citrus blossom, wet slate and maybe whiff of petrol. Not flavours you’d want to see on an ingredients list, but by God, they work here.
