Touriga Nacional is one of Portugal’s most celebrated grape varieties, recognised for its integral role in the production of rich, full-bodied Port wines and as a high-quality component in still red wines. Despite low yields, the grapes offer an intense concentration of flavour, resulting in wines with a deep colour and a complex palate of dark fruits, such as blackberries, and floral notes of violets. The structure and depth of Touriga Nacional wines, backed by firm tannins and balanced acidity, give them excellent ageing potential. This varietal’s unique combination of power, elegance, and longevity has cemented its status as a flagship grape of Portugal’s winemaking heritage.
