Four generations after the estate was established, Graziano Specogna’s great grandchildren are now at the helm. With 22 hectares of vineyards on the hill of Rocca Bernarda in the heart of the Colli Orientali DOC zone, their vineyards are set in a spectacular amphitheatre and the quality of the fruit they bring to the winery is impeccable. As a result, they are keen to get as much flavour as possible from the grapes. Macerating the skins in the juice prior to fermentation gives the wine a beautiful ‘ramato’ (copper) colour, characteristic to top quality Pinot Grigio’s.
Fresh and floral on the nose, with aromas of apples, pears and elderflower. The palate exudes apple and pineapple with a lively, lifted finish and hints of freshly-baked bread.

Planeta is undoubtedly Sicily’s leading wine producer. Founded in 1985, this dynamic winery is responsible for championing both indigenous and international grape varieties and pioneering the development of high-quality wine on the island.
We always have some of this in our wine rack, I love it ~ Francesca Planeta harvests this syrah slightly earlier than usual to retain a lovely acidity and freshness in the wine.
The nose is delicate and attractive with notes of rose petals, pomegranate and strawberries. On the palate, the wine fruity and silky smooth, light and fresh with and a beautiful finish.

Viviana Navarrete studied Agricultural Sciences and Winemaking at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Having always been attracted to the unique terroir and cool coastal climate of Leyda Valley, she eagerly accepted the position of Chief Winemaker at Viña Leyda in 2007, striving to produce the best cool climate wines in Chile.
Famed for being the most highly awarded cool climate coastal winery in Chile, she makes wines that are completely distinct from what we have come to expect from the country. The unique microclimate comes from both the proximity to the coast but also, the cooling nature of the Humboldt current. Where Chiles Central Valley is hot and dry, Leyda is cool and wet and it is this specific climate that brings these wines the unique freshness and balance of acidity.
Vivianna has been named one of Chile’s top ten winemakers in Decanter magazine by Peter Richards and is considered “one of Chile’s best Pinot Noir makers” by Kim Marcus of Wine Spectator. In 2018, she was acknowledged by Wine Enthusiast as one of the wine industry’s top trialblazing women, and last year she was crowned winemaker of the year 2020 by Tim Atkin.
Aromatic aromas of violets, raspberries, crushed blackcurrants and spice with underlying smoky notes. The palate benefits from a refreshing acidity and brightness with hints of leather and liquorice and sustained length.
