MAN Family Wines

MAN Family Wines began in 2001 with a simple ambition: to make wines that three discerning winemakers could afford to enjoy with friends. Brothers Tyrrel and Philip Myburgh joined forces with José Conde, starting out in an old tractor shed with just 600 cases of Pinotage. The name came from their wives’ initials — Marie, Anette and Nicky — giving the founders a handy explanation for all those weekends spent making wine: it was for them.

Good grapes were at the heart of the project from the start. Tyrrel and José spent weekends visiting vineyards and building relationships with growers, laying the foundations for a partnership that brought the farmers into the business as shareholders. Their expertise, including their work with South African old-vine Chenin Blanc, underpins MAN’s approach: carefully sourced fruit, experienced hands and wines made for everyday enjoyment.
