- Grande Réserve Brut | Jean de Villaré | Champagne, France – This beautifully crafted Champagne is aged for three years, bringing depth and elegance to every sip. With its pale golden colour and delicate bubbles, it offers inviting aromas of apple, peach, and apricot, followed by a balanced, round mouthfeel. Ideal for festive toasts and memorable moments.
- Domaine Michaut Frères | Chardonnay | Chablis, France – A classic Chablis with the flinty, mineral character of Kimmeridgian clay soil. Fresh and balanced with bright acidity, this Chardonnay has notes of citrus and green apple, softened by subtle oak aging. A lovely white that complements seafood and light fare beautifully.
- Sancerre | Domaine Jean-Paul Picard | Sauvignon Blanc | Loire, France – Crafted on the slopes of Bué, this Sancerre opens with citrus and exotic fruit aromas, rounded by hints of minerality and orange blossom. Smooth and rounded, with silky tannins, this Rioja is perfect for cosy evenings and hearty dishes, offering a satisfying, complex finish.
- Louis Latour | Pinot Noir | Nuits-Saint-Georges, France – Known for its elegance, this Pinot Noir reveals notes of blackcurrant, clove, and mocha. Robust yet refined, it’s a wine that comes into its own with a bit of ageing, making it an ideal choice for festive roasts and special dinners.
- Chianti Classico | Castello di Meleto | Tuscany, Italy – This organic Chianti Classico combines Sangiovese and Merlot to create a red that’s both fresh and structured, with bright cherry flavours, floral hints, and integrated tannins. I selected the wines in the Classic Christmas Complete Wine Case to capture the spirit of Christmas – wines that feel special and are versatile enough to suit any occasion during the season. Each wine has its own unique character, yet all are easy to enjoy and perfect for sharing.
The Jean de Villaré Champagne is an absolute must for the Christmas table; it’s light and elegant, setting the tone for any celebration. The Chablis from Domaine Michaut Frères is fresh, minerally, and ideal for seafood or as a crisp aperitif. The Sancerre is a personal favourite, with its lively citrus notes and a hint of orange blossom – it pairs wonderfully with a cheese board or nibbles.
For reds, the Coto de Imaz Rioja Gran Reserva is a lovely choice for warming up by the fire, offering depth and a long, satisfying finish. The Nuits-Saint-Georges Pinot Noir is one I always recommend for festive meals; it’s refined, with layers of blackcurrant and spice, and perfect with roasts. Finally, the Chianti Classico adds that touch of Italian flair, full of cherry and floral notes that make it endlessly drinkable.
This case is all about tradition, taste, and bringing people together. It’s my way of sharing the wines I turn to each Christmas, knowing they’ll make every moment a little more special.
