Description
Since 1984, Markus Molitor has pursued a clear vision: to bring the great potential of the Mosel back to life – with distinctive wines that precisely reflect the interplay of vintage, ripeness, and origin. Meticulous manual work, selective harvesting, respect for grape and terroir, and the renunciation of standardizing aids define his winery’s philosophy.
The approximately 23-hectare steep slope with south to south-west exposure features medium-deep clay slate weathered soils with a high proportion of stones. What makes the Sonnenuhr special are its largely non-land-consolidated, very old vineyards with ungrafted Riesling vines. Wines from the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr are incredibly elegant and delicate, with vibrancy and a filigreed acidity structure.
This delicately fruity Spätlese, with its juicy and invigorating character, pairs beautifully with spicy dishes, especially Southeast Asian flavours. Light desserts and foie gras are classic matches, as are dates wrapped in bacon.
