Kaiken

In 2000, legendary Chilean winemaker Aurelio Montes began looking across the Andes to explore new terroirs, and after several exploratory trips, he founded the Kaiken winery in 2002 – named after the wild Patagonian geese, the Kaikenes, who risk everything on the same migratory path that he followed, across the Andes between Chile and Argentina.

Aurelio’s aim for his new winery was simple: to bring his wealth of Chilean winemaking tradition to these new lands, and create wines that reflect the unique characteristics of Argentine soil and climate, combining the best of both sides of the Andes.

Kaiken’s vineyards are strategically located in some of Mendoza’s prime areas, including Luján de Cuyo, Uco Valley, and Vistalba. These locations, with their diverse climates and altitudes, provide the perfect conditions for growing a variety of grapes: particularly Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Torrontés.

Kaiken wines bring together that cross-mountain blend of Argentine tradition and Chilean winemaking expertise, and this fusion results in wines that are rich, balanced, and full of character, reflecting the best of both worlds. Kaiken captures the essence of two great wine cultures – and the spirit of adventure that brought them together – in every bottle.

From the Handpicked Wine Cellars:

Kaiken’s range of wines is certainly impressive: from the robust, elegant and fruity Kaiken Ultra Malbec, to the sophisticated green notes of Kaiken Clasico Chardonnay, there is something to match most occasions (and foods!).
