Tinpot Hut

Tinpot Valley is a boutique winery based in Marlborough, New Zealand. It has carved out its own little niche among some pretty big and well-known names in the area, focusing on creating wines that really showcase the beauty of the Marlborough region.

The winery is led by Fiona Turner, an experienced winemaker with a Masters degree in Biological Chemistry. Tinpot Valley produces wines with bright, fresh flavours that truly reflect the unique climate and soil of Marlborough – and the name comes from the rustic sheds that are scattered across the land, part of the area’s sheep farming heritage. Fiona’s scientific expertise combines with her passion for letting nature lead the way, and her approach to winemaking is all about minimal intervention, which brings the natural characteristics of the grapes to the forefront.

Tinpot Valley has a wine for everyone. Their Sauvignon Blanc is a classic Marlborough style— vibrant tropical fruit, zesty lime, and that refreshing crispness that the region is famous for – and their Grüner Veltliner has won multiple awards annually over the last few years.

In essence, with Tinpot Valley you get quality over quantity. Their wines are approachable, delicious, and carry the true essence of Marlborough in every sip – you won’t be disappointed with a bottle from Tinpot Valley.

From the Handpicked Wine Box Cellars:

We love Tinpot Hut’s flagship Sauvignon Blanc, which is a blend of fruit from Blind River and the Lower Wairau, which gives a wonderful blend of minerally, crushed herb notes, and lovely tropical flavours too.

The Grüner Veltliner has flavours of white peach balanced with peppery spiciness, and a long, dry finish.
