Description
Southern French wines made from plots where the garrigue intertwines with the vines. Delicate, floral expressions alongside little bombs of fruit.
Domaine de la Dourbie is an old site, established in 1782, with the name being taken from the small river, La Dourbie, that flows into the river Hérault.
Authenticity and quality are the touchstones here. Laurent and his team took over running of the Domaine in 2003 and have removed any non-local varieties and have re-planted native grapes, such as the superb and rare, Terret-Bourret.
All of the wines come from two terriors – one from 20ha of IGP Vin de Pays d’Herault and the other 12ha of AOP Languedoc.
The 20ha estate includes a 100 year old landscaped park – which is covered in flowers. This is reflected in some of the labels as well delicate floral notes in the wines. There are beehives everywhere as well, enhancing the biodiversity and maintaining the contact with nature.
The smaller 12ha site is an exceptional place where the favourable micro-climate helps these old vines (50-80 yrs old) to ripen and the sudden evening coolness helps to fix the aromas in the Mala Coste and Intemporal wines.
Everything is done as naturally as possible, by hand with the minimal addition of sulphites and their organic practice has been certified since 2009.
A peachy pink color. A nose of redcurrant. A fresh and balanced palate with notes of raspberry and white peach. A delicious, long finish with a tangy touch.
