Founded in 2017, The REAL Drinks Co. exists so that
everyone can live life unconstrained, whether they’re drinking
or not. Founder David had all but given up alcohol and found
that nothing paired with food in the same way as a wine. He
set about experimenting with fermentation and the impact of
conditioning and bottling on superior flavour.
REAL’s Naturally Fermented Sparkling Teas are produced in
their state-of-the-art Fermentery on the Waddesdon Estate
in Buckinghamshire.
Royal Flush is made using First-Flush Darjeeling Tea. The
REAL Drinks Co. work with a single tea garden in the Lesser
Himalayas, near Darjeeling India. North-facing and in sight of
Kangchenjunga, frosts in winter chill the plants and shade in
spring allows for slower growth.
The first flush refers to the very first tips of the tree that
emerge in spring. Withered, rolled, gently oxidised and dried
with great care, this ensures that the leaves are young, fresh
and produce delicate fruity notes.
Experts in fermentation, The REAL Drinks Co. produce nonalcoholic Naturally Fermented Sparkling Tea using
innovative techniques inspired by winemaking. A small
selection of wild yeast and bacteria is nurtured before being
inoculated into each batch to initiate a slow fermentation
which drives flavour, complexity and consistency.
Fragrant and fresh on the nose with notes of stone fruits and
juicy blackcurrants. Delicately acidic on the palate with
flavours of rhubarb, peach, and a hint of spice. The perfect
partner to grilled white fish, charcuterie, or for that perfect
Aperitivo moment.
