Villa di Petrognano

Francesco Giuntini of the Selvapiana winery first began renting Villa di Petrognano in Pomino in 1993. Francesco’s son, Federico Giuntini Masseti, is now at the winemaking helm, continuing the great work of the late Franco Bernabei, who was winemaking consultant. Villa di Petrognano blends Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to create characterful wines distinct from other red wines in Tuscany. The use of French varieties in Pomino dates back to the 1850s, when Vittorio degli Albizi returned from France to Tuscany, bringing back cuttings from his favourite French vines.
