Founder Yves Cuilleron is a superstar in the Northern Rhône wine scene. Based in the village of Chavanay, his family-run winery has been making waves for generations, but Yves really took things to the next level when he took over in 1987. Since then, he’s become one of the top winemakers in the region, and his wines are known as much for their personality as their quality.
Yves Cuilleron’s vineyards stretch across some of the most prestigious appellations in the Northern Rhône, including Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, and Crozes-Hermitage. While he makes a variety of wines, he’s especially famous for his whites from Condrieu (from Viognier grapes) and his powerful reds from Côte-Rôtie (Syrah).
Yves Cuilleron believes in the hands-on approach, and has never tried to fit into conventions or follow viticultural fads. His focus has always been about growing the best grapes possible, and he does that the old-school way, with manual treatment of the vines, hand-harvesting, and being deeply involved in every step of the winemaking process. In the cellar he uses natural yeasts, and carefully controls fermentations to bring out the best of each grape and the terroir.
Yves Cuilleron is a name to know among Rhône wines. His wines are consistently fantastic and offer a true taste of the region’s best.
From the Handpicked Wine Box Cellars:
Every Yves Cuilleron wine is full of character. Les Vignes d’à Côté IGP Collines Rhodanienne is a Viognier – rich and aromatic, bursting with fruits and floral notes. On the red side, Les Pierres Sèches is structured, spicy, and loaded with dark fruit.
