Description
Four generations after the estate was established, Graziano Specogna’s great grandchildren are now at the helm. With 22 hectares of vineyards on the hill of Rocca Bernarda in the heart of the Colli Orientali DOC zone, their vineyards are set in a spectacular amphitheatre and the quality of the fruit they bring to the winery is impeccable. As a result, they are keen to get as much flavour as possible from the grapes. Macerating the skins in the juice prior to fermentation gives the wine a beautiful ‘ramato’ (copper) colour, characteristic to top quality Pinot Grigio’s.
This traditional, and more sophisticated style of Pinot Grigio benefits from more complexity and structure and lends itself to accompanying white meats, risottos, fusion and spicy meals, and young cheeses.
Fresh and floral on the nose, with aromas of apples, pears and elderflower. The palate exudes apple and pineapple with a lively, lifted finish and hints of freshly-baked bread.
If you haven’t tried this style of Pinot Grigio before, you are in for a treat.
