Description
Valdecuriel Reserva is a more serious expression of Ribera del Duero, built for those who enjoy depth, structure and a sense of quiet power. Sourced from the rugged Las Pinzas Valley, this is Tempranillo with real presence, shaped by time in both vineyard and cellar.
The nose is intense and layered, opening with ripe red and black fruit before moving into richer notes of spice, dark chocolate and a subtle touch of liquorice. There is a floral lift too, with hints of violet that bring elegance and balance to the wine’s depth.
On the palate, it is smooth yet commanding. There is weight and structure, but everything feels well judged. The tannins are firm but integrated, giving the wine length and a sense of refinement rather than heaviness. The finish is long, persistent and composed, leaving behind a savoury mix of fruit and gentle oak.
This is a wine that comes into its own with food. It works beautifully with roast meats, grilled dishes and richer plates where there is depth of flavour to match the wine’s structure. Think slow-cooked lamb, game or traditional Spanish dishes such as roast suckling pig.
Valdecuriel’s roots run deep in the Valle de Las Pinzas, an ancient landscape where vines have been cultivated for centuries, dating back to early settlers and later expanded under Roman influence. That history shows in the wine, not in a showy way, but in its confidence and sense of place.
A refined, age-worthy Ribera del Duero that rewards a little time, both in the glass and, if you can resist opening it, in the cellar.
