French Syrah, also known as Shiraz in some parts of the world, is a red wine grape variety most notably grown in the Rhône Valley. French Syrah wines are known for their deep colour, full body, and complex flavours that often include blackberry, plum, black pepper, and sometimes notes of olive, herbs, or smoked meat. They typically have high tannins and good ageing potential. Some of the most prestigious Syrah wines come from the Northern Rhône appellations of Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage. If you enjoy red wines that are bold, flavourful, and have a capacity for ageing, wines made from French Syrah could be a great choice for you.
