Description
Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret is owned by Vincent and Anne Mongeard. The domaine is located in Vosne-Romanée in the heart of the Côte de Nuits.
The Domaine has vineyards in 35 appellations totalling over 30 hectares, ranging from Villages to Grand Cru. Vincent and Anne practice sustainable viticulture, ‘la lutte raisonnée’, with a focus on soil health, using manure and compost to improve it. A lot of thought goes into selecting the perfect, fine-grain oak for maturation. The oak is carefully selected from Nièvre and Tronçais in Allier, which is then cured at the domaine for 18-24 months and a local cooper assembles the barrels for them. The barrels are used for up to five years.
The wines from Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret are known for their elegance and intensity. Vincent and Anne’s use of new oak ranges from 30-40% for Villages and Premier Crus, up to 100% new oak for Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru, depending on the vintage. The Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru ‘Les Narbantons’ comes from a 1.3 hectare plot of 53-year-old vines. Known for its finesse, this premier cru balances fragrant red fruit, precise acidity and an elegant texture on the palate.
Intense ruby in colour with a bouquet that is elegant and powerful, dominated by red fruits. This premier cru is concentrated and has a good tannic backbone, combining character, finesse and elegance.
