Description
12 generations of the Trimbach family have made wine in Alsace since at least 1626. Today, and with Pierre Trimbach in charge, their name is synonymous with quality. The family vineyards are situated around Ribeauville and benefit from the unique Alsatian microclimate thanks to protection from the Vosges Mountains which shelter the plain from the rain. This grapes for this wine are grown on old vines, around 50+ years old and picked as late as possible in the season to achieve maximum ripeness, resulting in optimum depth of flavour and complexity. The wine receives no oak contact and is vinified to complete dryness with no residual sugar. Bottling is done early to preserve freshness, and the wine then rests in bottle in the cellar for several years before being released.
This rich and dry riesling is incredibly well made and complex. Clean and elegant, with intense grapefruit and lime on the nose, the palate is structured and lean. Benefitting from a remarkable backbone and racy acidity, it has a lingering finish and wonderful minerality.
