Description
This unusual blend is made by youngster Charlie O’Brien in the Maclaren Vale and is a twist on the classic Grenache Syrah Mourvedre blend.
The SGZ is all about the final blending of three McLaren Vale varieties; Shiraz, Grenache and Zinfandel. After careful consideration of the individual parcels of these wines that were available to Charlie he created this wine with thoughts of the contribution each variety would make to the resultant blend. 40% Shiraz, 20% Grenache and 40% Zinfandel was the magic formula.
A big wine with violets, dark chocolate, and red fruits on the nose – there is a lot going on. Full bodied, and lively, the palate is rich and bold whilst underpinned by spice, and cocoa. The fruit is pure and finish long. Wonderful!
