Founded in 2017, The REAL Drinks Co. exists so that
everyone can live life unconstrained, whether they’re drinking
or not. Founder David had all but given up alcohol and found
that nothing paired with food in the same way as a wine. He
set about experimenting with fermentation and the impact of
conditioning and bottling on superior flavour.
REAL’s Naturally Fermented Sparkling Teas are produced in
their state-of-the-art Fermentery on the Waddesdon Estate
Peony Blush is made using White Peony tea. Otherwise
known as Bai Mudan, this is a delicate, white tea from Fujian,
a coastal province of Southeastern China.
Named after the petals of the White Peony, the tea is
characterised by its tender, downy-white leaves which are
hand-picked in early Spring. Just two leaves are picked for
every bud, following the standards introduced during the Ming
Dynasty. The leaves are gently withered under natural
sunlight, remaining as close to their natural state as possible.
Experts in fermentation, The REAL Drinks Co. produce nonalcoholic Naturally Fermented Sparkling Tea using
innovative techniques inspired by winemaking. A small
selection of wild yeast and bacteria is nurtured before being
inoculated into each batch to initiate a slow fermentation
which drives flavour, complexity and consistency.
Fruity and bright on the nose with notes of strawberry,
yoghurt and luscious summer fruits. Buttery and well-rounded
on the palate with flavours of cherry, strawberry and a deeply
complex finish. The perfect partner to barbecued chicken,
