Description
‘Making wines with passion’ is the moto for this 3rd generation family run winery which underpins everything that they do. Their ingrained respect for the land, the indigenous vines and their ambition, sing.
Only made in the best vintages, the single vineyard Sezzana is a wonderful expression of Sangiovese.
The nose is elegant with hints of violet, blueberry and ripe cherries as well as leather, tobacco and sweet spices.
The palate is rich and well-structured, with soft peppery notes, plenty of ripe red fruits and persuasive tannins. The finish is persistent and certainly leaves you wanting more!
Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, of which 20% is new, and the remaining in used oak. The wine is then matured in barrel for 24 months before a further 100 months ageing in bottle. It is bottled without filtering or fining.
Small production.
I can wholeheartedly and personally recommend this wine with Beef Wellington! Best decanted a few hours prior to drinking.
