It’s especially common in the appellations of Cariñena and Priorat, where it thrives in the warm, arid conditions. Cariñena is a late-ripening grape known for its high acidity and tannin content, often contributing structure to blends, particularly with Garnacha. On its own, it produces full-bodied, robust wines with dark fruit flavours, often showing hints of pepper, spice, or earthy notes.
