Description
Made by Franck Massard sommelier-turned-winemaker and somewhat a celebrity in the world of wine (he was voted the UK’s top sommelier in 1996), El Brindis is produced in Montsant, Catalonia, which neighbours the famous and pricey DOQ Priorat. Made from the same grape varieties as Priorat, these old Grenache-Carignan vines are at an altitude of 550m to retain freshness and acidity in the blend, this wine is a cracking find.
El Brindis, meaning “The Toast” embodies everything Franck stands for: purity, precision and place. This is modern Spanish winemaking at its best; expressive, honest and perfectly balanced. It’s the kind of wine that invites you to slow down, savour the moment, and raise a glass to the simple pleasures in life.
Intense aromas of ripe red berries, juniper berries and blackberries all perfumed with underlying thyme from the nearby Mediterranean. White pepper, clove, and balsamic are also present on the complex nose. The palate is voluptuous and sophisticated with good structure and sustained length. A food lover’s dream!
A natural partner for roast lamb, chargrilled vegetables or a rich tomato-based pasta. It’s also wonderful with Spanish tapas; think chorizo, jamón and Manchego cheese.
In Short, El Brindis by Franck Massard is a vibrant, small-production Spanish red that combines elegance, depth and authenticity — crafted by one of Spain’s most talented and visionary winemakers.
