Description
A stunning wine from an award-winning winery founded in 1786, and now run by 8th generation Erich Machherndl Jr.
Believing in honest viticulture without compromise, Erich’s wines are all estate grown from single vineyard sites. The grapes for this wine come from his Kollmütz vineyard, known for its loess and predominantly bedrock cliff-faced rocks. The vines from this high plateau average 40 years old and bring a delicate complexity to the wine.
The nose is fruity with layers of apples, pears and spice with underlying smoky notes. The palate has a lovely texture, elegant minerality and hints of mint on the finish.
