Description
Château Fleur de Lisse is situated in the Saint-Émilion village of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse and was owned by the Minvielle family from 1940 to 2015, before being sold to the Teycheney family. The Teycheneys have a particular interest in biodynamic farming and the estate’s 8.7 hectares of vines are currently undergoing organic and biodynamic certification.
Château Fleur de Lisse’s vineyards, which have an average age of 45 years, are planted on a rocky outcrop of calcareous silt. This soil composition encourages the vine roots to dig deep into the earth to access water and nutrients, resulting in excellent freshness and acidity in the final wines. Winemaker Nicolas Géré, who previously worked with Jean-Louis Chave in the Rhône, is uncompromising in his pursuit of purity and elegance. He is also joined by consultant winemaker Jean-Claude Berrouet, who also works at Château Pétrus. With a strong belief in the transition to biodynamic farming, Nicolas, Claude and their team have helped restore the vineyard’s biodiversity through highly effective growing techniques and placing beehives and chickens among the vines.
Deep ruby in colour. Aromas of plums and red cherries burst out of the glass and are married with subtle hints of toast and spice. Sleek on the palate, with velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity which carries the crunchy fruit flavours onto the lingering finish.
