Description
Grown on very old bush vines, d’Arenberg is one of the only estates in Australia still to use the backbreaking basket press. This gentler method of extraction extracts less of the bitter, rougher phenolics from the grapes. But that’s not all, they also foot tread all their red wines during the ferment for optimum control over extraction.
They believe the quality of the results makes these incredibly labour-intensive processes’ worthwhile. They certainly don’t make things easy for themselves…
This ‘garage wine’ pays homage to the wine produced in the back sheds or ‘garages’ of Bordeaux winemakers where small batches of the highest quality wines were traditionally made. The old corrugated d’Arenberg garage dates back to the 1920’s and to this day, houses the equipment used in the handcrafting of this wine!
This Cabernet-led Bordeaux blend is rich in plum, blackcurrant, leather, cedar and spice. A juicy yet deep and structured wine with mineral acidity and fine tannins.
